1. Introduction
Anastasiia Kutsevol is a Ukrainian digital sculptor based in Poland and the founder of Digital Sculpture Studio. Her professional practice combines original sculptural research with commercial work, bringing together artistic, scientific, and technical experience developed across multiple fields of digital sculpture.
Originally educated in biology and graphic design, her professional practice evolved through independent study, interdisciplinary learning, and work across multiple fields of 3D modeling before digital sculpture became its primary specialization. Today, that experience forms the foundation of a practice that includes Original Works, Commercial Sulutions, and the continuing development of an authorial sculptural methodology.
This article introduces the background, professional development, and experiences that gradually shaped the practice presented throughout this website.
2. Artistic Environment
Growing up in a family where her mother worked as an artist and her father was an active musician, art formed a natural part of everyday life from an early age. Creative disciplines, languages, and education were regarded not as exceptional pursuits but as an essential foundation for an independent life.
Formal musical education began in early childhood and developed alongside general education. This broad educational approach would later continue through scientific studies, design, digital sculpture, and ongoing professional development.
3. Scientific Foundation
Scientific education began at a mathematics and science secondary school, where a growing interest in biology gradually shaped a lasting fascination with living systems and natural form. This interest later led to formal university studies in biology, providing a scientific perspective that would continue to influence the author’s approach to sculpture.
Rather than treating biology and art as separate fields, both contributed to a shared way of observing form. Biological structures, adaptation, and the organization of living organisms became part of a broader understanding of morphology, proportion, and three-dimensional relationships.
Although the professional practice ultimately developed within digital sculpture, this scientific background continues to inform the observation of living form and supports the research-oriented approach that defines the author’s work.
4. Digital Sculpture
Alongside university studies in biology, professional education in graphic design introduced a broad range of digital disciplines, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, CorelDRAW, web design, and visual communication. During this period, the author also worked as a graphic designer while gaining practical experience across both print and digital media.
As the curriculum expanded into 3D software, including Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Maya, digital sculpture emerged as the discipline that most closely matched the author’s artistic interests. After exploring the available workflows, she chose to focus on character creation and began independently studying Maxon ZBrush, recognizing it as the medium through which sculptural thinking could be developed most naturally.
Rather than following a formal specialization in digital sculpting, professional expertise evolved through independent study and practical work. Digital sculpture became not simply another digital discipline, but the central medium that brought together artistic observation, scientific knowledge, and professional experience into a single sculptural practice.
5. Professional Development
Professional experience began in game development, first within studio environments and later through remote collaboration, before developing into an independent international practice. Working through freelance projects and self-employed businesses in both Ukraine and Poland, the author collaborated with clients across a wide range of industries and production pipelines.
Professional projects centered on the development of 3D models for games, animation, visualization, manufacturing, collectibles, toys, statues, commemorative sculpture, and sculptural relief. Although these projects served different production goals, they were consistently developed through the principles of digital sculpture, which became the author’s primary professional specialization.
Working across diverse applications—from stylized toys and game characters to realistic figurines, sculptural reliefs, and monumental sculpture—gradually expanded both artistic judgment and technical expertise. Rather than defining the practice by a single industry or product, this experience established digital sculpture as a versatile professional discipline capable of supporting a wide range of creative and production objectives.
6. Summary
The professional practice presented throughout this website developed through the gradual integration of artistic, scientific, and technical experience. Rather than following a predetermined specialization, it evolved through continuous learning, independent study, and professional work across multiple fields of 3D modeling, with digital sculpture becoming its primary specialization.
Today, Digital Sculpture Studio provides the organizational framework for that continuing practice. It brings together original research, commercial projects, and professional documentation within a single structure that continues to develop through both artistic exploration and practical experience.
Rather than being conceived as a planned business model, Digital Sculpture Studio emerged gradually as the natural organization of a practice that had already developed through years of independent work.
